Use of Terbium Doped Phosphate Glasses for High Dose Radiation Dosimetry—Thermoluminescence Characteristics, Dose Response and Optimization of Readout Method

The phosphate glass samples doped with Tb2O3 oxide (general formula: P2O5-Al2O3-Na2O-Tb2O3) were synthesized and studied for usage in high-dose radiation dosimetry (for example, high-activity nuclear waste disposals). influence of terbium concentration on thermoluminescent (TL) signals was analyzed. TL properties glasses investigated using various experimental techniques such as direct measurements response vs. dose, Tmax–Tstop VHR (various heating rate) methods, glow curve deconvolution analysis. thermoluminescence (TLD) technique used the main investigation tool to study detectors’ dose responses. It has been proved that increasing matrices significantly increases yield examined material. For highest range (up 35 kGy), dependence integrated can be considered a saturation-type curve. Additional preheating improves linearity signal dependencies leads decrease loss over time. All obtained data suggest material dosimetry. advantages dosimetric system are its potential ability re-use same dosimeters multiple times fact reading only requires basic reader without any modifications.
